Preventative Maintenance (PM) — Actuator Survey & Inspection
Actuators are often subjected to extreme service conditions and get little attention or maintenance until problems arise. We recommend routine maintenance checks every twelve months to ensure proper, reliable operation. A PM Survey is the best way to gauge reliability, schedule future repairs, and budget for outages and turnarounds. Key actions we take during our PM Survey include:

  • Recording actuator and name plate data, and providing pictorial report documentation (accessible through our portal)
  • Visual inspection for stress fractures, loose bolting, grease leaks, and damaged wires
  • Manually stroking the actuator and opening limit switches
  • Checking for noise bearings, binding, and electrical current deviations during operation
  • Removing a small grease sample to be inspected and analyzed
  • Creating a Summary Survey Report that prioritizes our repair recommendations
